Vermouth Moderne Rosso – The Clumsy Bear (75 cl)

Vermouth Moderne Rosso is the red counterpart to Den Klodsede Bjørn's popular white vermouth – and like its sister, it has quickly found its way into both bar cabinets and wine cellars across the country. Behind the wine are Naja and Frederik in close collaboration with German vermouth specialist Heiko Hoos, and unlike many other red vermouths, this one is actually made with red wine from the Palatinate – not just colored white wine. This gives it an unusual depth, warmth and complexity.

The taste is full-bodied and almost nectarine with dark, ripe notes of prunes, dates and figs. A fresh and lively acidity keeps the sweetness in check and makes it surprisingly balanced. The nose is filled with red fruits, blackcurrants and plums, spiced with a touch of cardamom and wormwood. A subtle, green and grassy note lifts the overall impression and adds an elegant counterpoint.

Vermouth Moderne Rosso is best enjoyed over ice with a slice of orange as an aperitif, but it is also excellent for cocktails – whether classic variants like Negroni and Manhattan, or more experimental interpretations where the red wine base is really allowed to stand out.

Note: Any crystals at the bottom of the bottle are not a defect, but a natural sign of the wine's high mineral content - and thus its quality.
